EDITORIAL POLICY / WHO, HOW + WHY

Guidance you can check.

LAST UPDATED

SurveyChoice publishes guidance to help UK home buyers understand survey scope, cost, findings and the booking process before they instruct anyone. It is written for buyers, not to manufacture search traffic or push every property toward the most expensive survey.

Who creates and reviews it

SurveyChoice develops each guide with input from RICS surveyors at practices on the live network. Professional claims are checked against current RICS material. Practice details remain part of the instruction-stage disclosure rather than being used as public sales profiles.

How sources are chosen

Primary professional and public sources come first: the RICS Home Survey Standard, RICS consumer guidance and relevant government material. Where a price benchmark or market range is used, the source and year are stated beside it. A commercial estimate is never presented as a regulated tariff.

What the guidance cannot do

Articles describe typical scope and decision rules. They are not a diagnosis of an unseen property, a valuation, legal advice or a substitute for the professional judgment of the surveyor who carries out an inspection.

Updates and corrections

Priority guides are reviewed when standards, terminology, pricing evidence or the service changes. Material changes receive a new reviewed date. If something appears inaccurate or unclear, contact SurveyChoice so it can be checked and corrected.
