SurveyChoice is designed so that you can see a survey price without identifying yourself. Personal information is requested only when you book, join a coverage notification or contact the practice.
Who is responsible
SurveyChoice is operated by Mills Building Consultancy. For questions about this notice or your information, email hello@millsbuildingconsultancy.co.uk.
What we collect
- Property postcode, price band, type, bedrooms and chosen survey level.
- Property address, name, email, optional mobile number and preferred inspection window when you book.
- Payment and transaction references supplied by Stripe. SurveyChoice does not receive full card details.
- Messages you send and limited technical information needed to keep the service secure and understand performance.
When a request is saved
The property and contact information entered at the booking step is saved before payment or notification begins. This prevents a valid request being lost if a payment page is closed or an email provider is temporarily unavailable. SurveyChoice creates a private, high-entropy return link; the database stores a one-way hash of its secret token. Anyone with the complete link can view the booking, so it should not be forwarded.
Why we use it
We use information to calculate and validate prices, save and resume requests, arrange and deliver surveys, take payment, send service messages, respond to enquiries, prevent misuse and meet professional, tax and legal obligations. Depending on the activity, this is necessary to take steps toward or perform a contract, comply with legal duties, or pursue the legitimate interest of operating a secure professional service.
Who receives it
Information may be processed by the named surveyor and carefully selected service providers such as Vercel for hosting, Stripe for payment and Resend for transactional email. We do not sell personal information or send it to quote-comparison panels.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become instructions are kept only while relevant. Booking, payment and survey records may need to be retained for professional, insurance, tax and legal purposes. Retention is reviewed and information is deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
Your rights
You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection where the relevant right applies. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
